Rachel SalduttiReflective EssayT207December 16, 2014Online Content On Top In Five YearsWhen thinking about how far technology has come in today’s society, it all relates back to the Internet for plenty of reasons. Members of today’s society are textsavvy because being online has created a more personalized and convenient approach to retrieving information and content at the hands of the user. Therefore my group has chosen online content to end up at the top five years from now. During the construction of our Industry Prediction Concept Map, I was able to contribute my knowledge from the class concepts and relate them to our prediction of online content ending up on top. My group and I met a few times in order to complete our map in the best way presentable. To start brainstorming ideas, I created a Googledoc and group message so that we would have a place wherewe could all contribute our work and ideas during the times we couldn’t meet. This worked out very well as each member was able to contribute on his or her own timing. The first time we met as a group, we just did a rough sketch of our rough draft outline. During class time, we were able to receive feedback from another group and make changes accordingly. I contributed to my group by starting off the project with a layout, creating the rough draft, printing the poster, and meeting multiple times.1During the construction of the prediction map, I learned how Internet content is trying in multiple ways to keep up with their consumer needs. For example, we now have subscription options such as Netflix offered where consumers can purchase what they want to watch. Online content is an example of old and new technologies, adapting to new ways and keeping up with the changes. By participating in this project, I have also learned more about the seven key concepts learned in class. I learned how in some way, they all connect together as a whole and help one another in some sort of connection. In addition, I have learned that modern technology users would rather stream their content on internet connected devices, including their mobile cell phones or tablets, making their content available to them wherever and whenever they wish to access it. Convergence is key with online content because it takes a device and makes user entertainment available online. If I had to do this project over again, I would do it differently by finding betterways to make use of class time given to us to work on the group project. Although wefound time outside of class to meet, this would have given us a better chance to ask questions during class and check if our work, thoughts, and information were correct. Our group did very well communicating, but if I did this project over again I would come up with easier ways to communicate other than email and text message to ensure that everyone’s ideas were heard the correct way. I would also find other areas for us to meet to work that were more accessible for everyone to make sure wecould all meet at the same times.2In conclusion, I believe that each individual group member contributed different knowledge on each class concept to come up with an efficient conclusion asto why we believe online content will be on top in five years. Our group grew as a whole throughout the semester and our concept map shows the results of what we have learned throughout this semester.
