Pulse- Chase results- 1-3 minute chase silver grains mostly in RER. 10-20 minutes chase silver grains in RER and golgi. 120+minutes chase silver grains in secretory granules. Without chase the radioactive amino acids are present throughout and with chase radioactive amino acids are removed after 3 minutes.B. Secretion- Pathway: RER cis-golgi medial-golgi trans-golgi secretory vesicle plasma membrane/secretion-Constitutive- secretion that is constant and slow and steady. Fusion is energetically favorable and happens spontaneously in this pathway. -Regulated- secretion where vesicles are stored at plasma membrane until stimulated by a signal (often calcium). AKA exocytosis. C. Endocytosis- the process by which material is taken into the cell membrane from outside the cell. 3 types:1. Phagocytosis- endocytosis of larger, solid matter, generally for nutrition or pathogen removal. These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute.2. Pinocytosis- endocytosis of membrane and small, soluble contents only. 3. Receptor-mediated endocytosis- internalization of small vesicles in response to signaling molecule binding to a receptor on the plasma membrane. This often involves clathrin. -Lysosomes digest/degrade endosome contents using low pH and pH-dependent enzymes. After endocytosis digestion
