Hunter HartnettILP Research31 January 2014Pre-ResearchI have chosen the topic of legalized marijuana, or more specifically its economic factors and impacts, for this assignment. Everyday we hear more arguments and justifications for and against the legalization of marijuana. It has been proposed that marijuana could be a multi-million, or even a multi-billion dollara year industry and, as you would expect, this has provoked much conversation on exactly how beneficial the business of marijuana could be. Pot has been, and will continue to be, heavily taxed and is reaping in monetary benefits for the state governments whom have legalized it, with the state’s having the ultimate decision on where to use the increased revenue flow. There have also been studies suggestingthat decriminalization could significantly cut prison costs, as well as lighten the load on the DEA and state drug prevention agencies. I am very interested in this topic, and specifically it’s impact within the economy and the business world. Big marijuana could have a powerful influence on our future economic
