The Job DescriptionThe AudienceOther RequirementsTimingPC 2500 – Section 10 – McCalebOral Presentation 2 (The Interview)Presentation 2 will be a talk you might give in an interview situation. Since those of us inthe class aren’t familiar with your background and what kind of job you might be interested in, you need to write up a job description that you will hand out to the rest of usbefore your presentation – preferably you might post the job description as a slide up on the screen before you present. Here are some things to consider as you prepare for the presentation:The Job DescriptionThis can be fictitious, but it should include at least the following:- The title of the position- A description of duties- What kind of experience is required- What kind of education is expected- Any kind of special skills you would be expected to have (such as leadership skills, ability to meet deadlines, “enthusiasm,” etc.)- Anything else that would give us an idea about the audience you are presenting for (perhaps a brief background statement on the company)NOTE: You can “pretend” that you already have certain types of education and experience; in other words, if the job requires a B.A., you can assume you have completed it, if you want. The AudienceThe class is your audience, but we will be pretending we are the audience you described in the job description. You will need to analyze your audience (using the analysis worksheet in Gurak) and consider group ethos. Also, consider the following questions:- What can you say about yourself that shows you match the job description?- How can you benefit the company (and show the audience ways you can benefit)?- How can you present a competent, knowledgeable, polished, relaxed persona?- In what ways can you show that you identify with your audience?- Do you have an adequate level of general statements as well as details?Other RequirementsOrganization- Your presentation should have an introduction, conclusion, and supporting points. (These should be reflected by your PowerPoint slides).- There should be a clear pattern of organization (based on your points).- The slides should be “well designed” (as discussed in class), with effective use of color and text quantity.Audience- Address your audience confidently.- Maintain consistent eye contact. (Hint: Do not look at the screen too much.)- Use appropriate gestures.- Strive for an effective tone and voice volume.Timing- Your presentation should be no shorter than 7 minutes long (not including a brief time for questions). It should be no longer than 8 minutes.- End in a timely manner with an appropriate conclusion. You are not required to use handouts for this presentation (although you do need to hand out your job description, if it’s not posted on the screen), but you may use them, if you feel they would add to your presentation. Even if you use PowerPoint, a written outline would help your audience keep track of your main points. Please let me know if you have any questions, and seek feedback from others before you present. The presentations will occur _____________________________________________ (Kris Pickering,
