How fat is “fatty fish”?a. “Fatty fish” has around the same amount of fat as lean beef. b. It has around the same calories as lean beef and slightly less protein then both chicken and lean beef. c. It is recommended to have “fatty fish” to consume a notable amount of your daily needs.III. Potential risksThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. Pregnant women are not supposed to eat tilefish, shark, swordfish, or king mackerel because of the levels of methylmercury.b. Fetus is the area of most concern.c. Lots of studies have looked at the side effects of too much mercury.IV. Maternal fish consumption, hair mercury, and infant cognition in a U.S. cohorta. Not ethical to have pregnant women eat fish that are not supposed to be eaten.b. The way to conduct this study is through retrospective (having the mothers tell them what fish they ate during pregnancy). c. Another way is a prospective cohort.i. Recruit women early and monitor what they eat. They cannot dictate what is eaten but just observationd. Resultsi. The fish was bringing the infant eye vision up, but the mercury was bringing it down.ii. Additional factors are taken into account because they may effect the waythe child iii. Are the results accurate?1. Expressing data for every one unit of mercury, but the women’s mercury unit was only around one unit. So the way the results arepresented are confusing. 2.
