Project 3Elderly InterviewCourtney SchillChildhoodQuestion: What did you do for fun growing up?Answer: My grandmother played with her paper dolls, made mud pies, and played inside their playhouses.Question: What was high school like then?Answer: The rules at school were very strict for kids and she attended an all white school.Question: What were romantic relationships like?Answer: She says you were not married by the time you were a senior in high school, you would end up an old made. About everyone got married right when you were out of high school and then had kids young.Question: How were you raised?Answer: A black maid raised my grandmother and both of her parents worked for the government. She had a closer relationship with her maid than her own mom.Significant EventsQuestion: Where were you when Kennedy was assonated?Answer: She was sitting in her 11th grade history class, in Huntsville Alabama.They had let out school after the shooting and she went home and watched it on TV.Question: What was in like being in school during the civil rights movement?Answer: She claims it was terrible because the whites and blacks were scaredof each other. She says it was a mess because no one knew what was going to do. When she lived in Alabama, you had to go through Mississippi to get to Louisiana and her dad would never stop to get gas in Mississippi because it was known as a “black town.”Question: What was the reaction of the microwave coming out? Answer: There was a big stir about the microwave beginning with anything metal placed inside would cause it to explode, and then later you were told not to stand near it because of radiation, even though it was safe to put your food into it.Question: What was the reaction of the Berlin Wall being torn down?Answer: She was home watching television. She remembered reading and learning about it in her history class throughout school. People were happy about this accomplishment Regan had made for the
