IBUS 311 1st Edition Lecture 1Outline of Current Lecture I. Overview of Syllabusa. Class attendance and participation b. Examsc. Group project Current LectureI. Overview of Syllabusa. Class attendance and participation First, by using the iclicker technology, each class session you will be asked to answer one iclicker question that is derived from the assigned material for the session. You will earn one point (for attendance) by clicking your device. You will also earn one extra point for each iclicker question that you answer correctly. This makes a maximum of two points per class session. There will be a total of 18 class sessions with iclicker questions. Second, you will be able to take part in the class discussions by posting on Blackboard a comment – analysis of how a recently published article in the media relates to the respective topic under discussion. You have to make at least 4 such posts throughout the duration of the courseOverall, you need to accumulate a total of 40 points (from iclicker participation or Blackboard discussion posts) in order to earn the 30% count towards your final grade. If you have more than 40 points, you will get bonus credit towards your final grade, proportionally.b. ExamsThere will be three in-class exams distributed relatively equally throughout the semester. They are designed to test your familiarity and knowledge of the major concepts, topics and issues of the field of international business. Each exam will comprise a set of multiple-choice questions and will count 15% toward your final grade.c. Group projectYou will have the unique opportunity to gain first-hand practical experience with international business by working on a local product internationalization project under the guidance of participating local companies. In addition, the group assignment will tie together much of the theoretical concepts that you are learning in this class with the real world of international business activities. These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute. The class will be divided into groups of 5-7 participating members. Your task as a group is to identify a suitable international market/country for an assigned local product (Salamida’s spiedie sauce, Raymond Corporation’s automated lift truck, or a Stakmore Co.’s folding chair), and propose a relevant plan (strategy) for bringing the assigned product to the selected international market/country. Information about the companies will be available on Blackboard. You will be alsoable to address directly corporate executives from these companies during their visits to the class as guest speakers. You have to submit an Executive Report due two days prior to the final class discussion of your projects during Finals Week (May 12-15, concrete day and time TBD). The group project will count as 25% towards your final
