Cellular, ecological niche, environment.- Show how environment and environment change influenced organisms.- Explain continental drift and how it plays a part in evolution as well as all the other effects.- How is diversity distributed across Earth?- Describe evolution, descent with modification and natural selection and how they relate?- What is the age of Earth and how did we obtained this knowledge?- Identify and define speciation and extinction.Mechanism of Evolution:- Explain Lamarck’s Hypothesis and how new research is bringing the theory back.- Define and provide examples of Epigenetics.- Be able to explain who Charles Darwin is and what he has attributed toscience- Be able to differentiate and provide examples of natural selection and descent with modification.- What is induced variation? What is another name for it? Why would thisbe used?- Relate natural selection to its consequences. Be able to explain why these things happen because of natural selection.- Explain how we know evolution has and is still happening.Origin of Species:- Explain the Biological Species Concept and how it relates to gene flow.- Define Gene Flow.- Explain the limitations of Biological Species Concept.- Define Morphological Species Concept as well as Ecological Species Concept and be aware that both of these can apply to sexual and asexual species- Know what causes genetic variation and define (2).- Explain what genetic drift is and its effects on organisms and populations.- Be able to identify and explain the Founder or Bottleneck Effect.- Know the differences between microevolution and macroevolution.- Be able to explain Allopatric Speciation and provide examples of it.- Explain reproductive isolation and the effects of it.- Be aware of polyploidy, its definition and the effects it can have on an organism.Animal Diversity:Identify and explain the three forms of organism classification.Recognize Linnaeus’ Binomial Nomenclature.Explain and understand hierarchical classification.Know what phylogenies are.Works CitedGoldstein, David.
