Education - there are IT resources for education (namely MOOCS like Khanacademy or Codecademy) - massive-open online courses (MOOC) - millions of people can take online courses and learn skills Politics and Government - social media has a huge impact on political campaigns and fundraising - Barack Obama kicked ass with his social media campaign during his elections mobilizing young people and gaining funds Healthcare - President's Health Information Technology Plan makes Americans' health records more accessible for doctors and healthcare providers Military - drones, robots, heat sensors, vehicles, etc. have made our defenses stronger and more effective Retail - showrooming - go into the store, then check it out and buy it online (looking at reviews, checkingfor prices) - drones delivering goods Legal - Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) - anything that holds any data that could be illegally accessed is penalized (Google's Blackout 2012) - net neutrality - there are tiers of access to internet, the FCC made virtual lanes for traffic and certain people get access for big prices and those who can't pay are stuck in the slow lane o the Internet should be free o Obama speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKcjQPVwfDk Law Enforcement These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture.
