URS 2000-90 Research Paper Guidelines- You are to take an imaginary journey around the world. During that journey imagine you keep a journal of the places you visited. For this assignment you will share your journal entries for your visits to two “world cities,” not in the same country. For the names of world cities, see Chapter 1 World Urban Development PowerPoint slides (slide #25 Global/World Cities) or see the Key Urban Facts on the first page of each chapter in our text.- Prior to your journal entry for each city, provide a brief profile of that city, including: location, population size, historical origins, major functions (industries), and what is the city best known for (i.e. why is it considered a “world city”).- Within each journal entry demonstrate your knowledge of the city – so you must do moreresearch – and describe in some detail the interesting things you did during your visits (e.g. went to the Louvre in Paris, or rode the Ferris wheel in London). - Naturally, if you have already traveled to any “world cities” you can take advantage of that knowledge and experience.- At the end of your paper compare and contrast the two cities – what do they have in common, and in what ways are they very different- Submit a rough draft of your paper to the Drop Box on Pilot by 11.30 pm October 3o This rough draft should be at least 4 full pages in lengtho A title page and citations are not required for the draft- Submit your final paper to the Drop Box on Pilot by 11.30 pm October 31o The final paper should be 6-8 pages in length- Note: Drop boxes are linked to the turnitin.com service, which checks for plagiarism. This is an automatic process, so you don’t have to submit your paper to turnitin.com.o If you don’t know what turnitin.com is, not to worry, I’ll tell you later!Paper Specifications1. A separate title page (with city names and your name).2. A separate “Works Cited” or “Bibliography” page at the end, with at least four (4) sources- Note: an encyclopedia such as Wikipedia counts as only one source.3. Typewritten text, double-spaced, proper formatting (correct margins, 12 pt. fonts, page numbering etc.) following MLA Guidelines4. Complete and proper sourcing. All information that comes from another source must be documented. This includes quotes as well as paraphrased information.- In-text citations are welcome, but not required for this paper 5. Maps and photos are welcome, but are in addition to the minimum of 6 pages of text6. Use sub-headings to facilitate grading. Use the following 6 subheadings:- Introduction (a brief paragraph describing how this world trip came about)- Profile of …(put in name of your first city) - Journal Entry for (put in name of your first city ) - Profile of …(put in name of your second city)- Journal Entry for (put in name of your second city)- Comparison and Contrast7. The Rough Draft is primarily to check for plagiarism. However, although I will not grade the writing and content, I will provide feedback if I spot issues that might help your final paper. Points can be lost for the following:- Turnitin.com score of 20% or higher- Submitting less than 4 full pages of text- Submitting late8.
