Homework Errors Every semester there are some issues to get straightened out. The most important part is that you really learned the material. That is and must remain my primary objective. I will try to post here the errors in the solutions so you do not each have to e-mail me and tell me there were errors in the solution set. As long as everyone knows the corrections, learning is not impeded. As for your grade, as long as the grading was consistent, no one obtained any advantage over any other student. My choices are: 1) take back everyone's homework and grade it differently. 2) only regrade students who ask which definitely gives an advantage to a small group of students, or 3) assume that a consistent number of points was taken off everyone's paper. Essentially this is the same as treating the homework as being out of 148 points instead of 150. I have chosen to go this route as I find the first unfeasible from a paper-shuffling point-of-view and the second unfair to students who also got it right but didn't go over the solutions. LM1 - LM4 Errors 1) First of all, there were new homework sets this semester. Some of the homeworks that were supposed to get updated, didn't: for example LM3 did not get updated on the website but I didn't know it until after the first test. Thus, students who got the homework from me via e-mail got a different homework than those who got it from the site. This only affected three students, but it did cause considerable confusion. 2) Specifically, one version of the LM2 homework asked for the number of significant figures in both "100" and "100.", with and without a decimal point. (The other homework didn't.) Without a decimal point, 100 has only one significant digit. With a decimal point, 100. has three significant digits. 3) The TA made an error in his calculation of the law of cosines. LM5 - LM7 Errors LM5 #9 part d: Page 1 of 2Homework Errors12/11/2008https://vistaserver.ncsu.edu/webct/ContentPageServerServlet/homeworks/homeworkerror...LM8-15 Errors none reported LM18-17 Errors LM#16 - #1 Centroid=(x,y)=(0,2.89 in) LM#17 - #2 Volume=0.105 L3 LM#18 - #2 In sub-question 4, units are N and Nm instead of lb and lb-ft. LM20 Errors LM#20 - #3. The moment for the last section is -2.24x+39. LM#20 - #5. The moment is (10/3)*x^3-360*x+1440. Page 2 of 2Homework
