wide range of Industrial Organizational I O Psychology concepts and topics such as selection training performance appraisal and employee attitudes Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to a describe and integrate the basic theories of I O psychology b identify and apply the techniques and methods used by I O psychologists and c explain the application of I O psychology in today s workplace It is critical that students read the assigned material before coming to class Discussions and lectures will be based on the assigned readings Please make sure that you budget It depends on the time and effort you put in to mastering the material Grades for the course will be computed as follows Class Participation 10 Class Attendance 10 Term Paper 20 Exam 1 20 Exam 2 20 Exam 3 20 Final Exam 20 Plagiarism Tutorial The course grades will be assigned as follows A 90 100 B 80 89 C 70 79 D 60 69 F 0 59 see below Class participation includes but is not limited to contributing to class discussion in class exercises and outside ofclass assignments Participation Attendance Much of psychology is about human interactions To learn psychology it helps to interact and personalize it You will maximize your learning experience by coming to class asking questions making comments discussing topics or taking an informed stand and disagreeing with the instructor Participation includes contributing to class discussions in class exercises or out of class assignments All assignments and projects should be written in a professional manner Students should use all of the resources available working knowledge real world experience Internet text etc to support arguments and explanations Specific instructions regarding the assignments and projects will be provided when they are assigned Attendance is mandatory and promptness is expected Attendance will be periodically monitored The instructor reserves the right to deny entrance into the class if students are late The instructor also reserves the right to remove any student that disrupts the learning process Term Paper Students will be required to write a six 6 page not including references or title page double spaced APAstyle term paper that compares and contrasts a topic relevant to I O psychology Specific instructions will be available on the first day of class Exams There will be three 3 in class exams The exams will cover material from lectures assignments discussions videos presentations additional readings and the corresponding readings in the textbook All of the exams will consist of multiple choice items A student arriving late after the scheduled class start time on an exam date will not be allowed to take the exam after the first exam is returned Students are required to provide their own Scantron answer sheets the big blue one 4521 and pencils for the exams An official UT Arlington picture I D may be required I will drop the lowest exam score If a student misses an exam that will be the score that is dropped Any additional exam s missed will result 0 points for the exam grade There will be NO MAKE UPS under any circumstances If an exam is canceled due to inclement weather or other unexpected reasons it will take place on the subsequent scheduled class time and at the same place as originally scheduled Page 2 of 6 Psyc 3302 Spring 2012 Final Exam There will be one in class mandatory i e not optional comprehensive final exam worth 20 of your total grade The final exam will be given in accordance with UT Arlington s Final Exam Schedule The final exam will not be given on any other day and time No exceptions Extra Credit Opportunities for extra credit are available It is the student s responsibility to inform the instructor in writing via e mail or in person during office hours of his her desire to complete an extra credit assignment on or before March 1st No extra credit will be available past this date no
