Emphasis will be placed on the following skills in the order given: listening, speaking, reading and writing. (UC, CSU) Textbook: Vis-à-Vis: - Textbook and Workbook/ lab manual, 4th Edition Supplementary Text: A good French-English/English-French dictionary AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: General Aims: 1. To become familiar with the syntactical structure of the French language.2. To recognize the sounds of the spoken language.3. To become aware of the nature of articulating sounds to communicate in French.4. To understand the written word and interpret its meaning.5. To be exposed to various aspects of French culture.Obligation of the Student : 1. Attend all class sessions, (a most important factor in foreign language study.) Be prompt in arriving to class, no early departures. Roll will be taken within first 5 minutes of class. You will be counted absent if not present when roll is taken. 2. Complete homework/writing assignments and workbook. (1 day late - 1 grade lower. Will not accept thereafter.)3. Take chapter exams and final exam (Oral and Written).Do one Oral Presentation on cultural topic. Course Content: 1. Pronunciation2. Aural comprehension3. Reading and vocabulary study4.
