Pervasive Middleware Paper Survey OptionPervasive Middleware: Idea Paper OptionReading Materials from the IEEE Xplore (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org)Reading Materials from the ACM Digital Library (http://portal.acm.org)CEN 5531Mobile ComputingTerm PapersSpring 2007Professor Sumi HelalThis semester, term papers will focus on middleware and software tools for sensor networks and pervasive computing. A lottery will decide the order by which the term papers will be presented. Groups (of two students) need to be determined by no later thanFriday, February 16, 2007. Three presentations will be given per week for two weeks as planned in the class tentative schedule. Each presentation will last for 40 minutes. Both members of the term paper team should present. Presentations in powerpoint format should be emailed to the TA before class starts for web posting. The deadline for submitting all term papers is 5:10pm March 20, 2007. You will have a chance to improve and resubmit a refined version by November 9, 2006. Format Requirements: You will use this word template to write your paper. You will need to include a title, abstract, introduction and any number of sections as you see needed. Papers are expected to be 8-12 pages long. The References section should contain adequate references. Pervasive Middleware Paper Survey OptionIn this option you will be asked to identify a set of related papers (minimum of 3) on a specialized topic in the area of Pervasive Computing Middleware. You are required to listthese papers as a subsection in the introduction. You are expected to do serious critical reading and come up with a survey that provides value-added features such as comparisons and taxonomies (descriptions and fittings of several entities into an organized and well thought structure). You will choose your reading materials only from the sources listed below. Pervasive Middleware: Idea Paper OptionThis is similar to option II, except that instead of writing a survey, your critical reading will lead you to a novel and non-trivial idea that you want to pursue. The paper will roughly consist of two parts: a good coverage of the related work, your idea presentation and any analysis, simulation, etc. Idea papers are very much encouraged. They can form the basis of continued work for you in the future, least of which as an Individual Study course.Reading Materials from the IEEE Xplore (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org)1.
