Course Goal:Guiding principles: (basis for how course is run)1.People understand concepts better by seeing them in action and thinking about them than by passively listening.2. Understanding physics (& solving problems that develop understanding) is a learned skill, like cooking, or playing basketball. Takes time, effort, and practice.3. People learn best by thinking about topics and discussing them with others.4. Students learn most when they take the responsibility for what is learned.We cannot teach you physics!Physics is not collection of facts.Is way of thinking. Only you can teach yourself to think! Analyzing, applying concepts, solving problems.We can provide you with content, demonstrations, problems,guidance, organization, etc. to help you learn. Reward activities and efforts conducive to your learning(grade) We think it is important and useful for you tothink/apply ideas to the real world.We do work to try and help you learn.But also takes work on your part!Do everything, and it’s almost impossible to get lower than B. (< 50% =F)Total in-class and weekly homework count the most!Grade depends most on showing up for class, doing reading, and turning in homework every week.
