You are to calculate each value by hand calculations before proceding to write the cell formulas. 1. In cell B9, the height of the truss is computed using the formula based on the length of the truss and its pitch: 24Pitch*LengthHeight = 2. In cells B19:C25, compute the coordinates of the truss joints (A-G) based on the span, L, and the height, H, of the truss. Use the dimensions shown in the figure on the first page when computing the coordinates. 3. In cells B30:B40, write the cell formulas to determine the length of each member using the distance formula and the coordinates you computed in cells B19:C25. 4. In cells G21:F23, write the cell formulas to determine the reactions of the truss. The reactions are the forces that the truss supports must provide to maintain equilibrium of the truss. The formulas for the reactions are as follows: 5. In the Page Setup Dialog box, be sure to set the print area to be printed on one page wide by one page tall as shown in the figure below. Also, be sure to display the gridlines and column and row headers. (Do this each time you print a worksheet for this class!) 6. Change the Span in your worksheet to 20 and the pitch to 3 and print out your worksheet to a single page. Staple your hand calculations behind your printout. If your worksheet and calculations do not agree, find the mistake and FIX IT. Your paper should be 100% correct when submitted.
