What are classifiers? How are classifiers used in English? Are they used the same way in CJK languages or is there a difference? 5. Part one: English and Chinese do not have case markers or particles to indicate the role each noun plays in a sentence. How do we determine subjects and objects for English and Chinese? (Hint: “We know by context” is not the correct answer.)Part two: Even if you don't know the words, you can use the case particles to determine the function (i.e., role) of a noun in a sentence. Determine the function of the nouns in the following Korean and Japanese sentences. sample: watasi-ga hon-wo yondeiru. answer: watasi-ga is the subject, hon-wo is the direct object. a.
