2 Examples of Weak Reflections – lack depthNCSS Standard #7: Production Distribution and ConsumptionThe Great Depression is a great opportunity to teach the students about the economics of the United States through the late 1920's and into the 1930's. As seen in the standard, the students learn about the role of supply and demand and how the nation tried to cope with the fall of the stock market. This lesson also shows the effect of society on economic systems.INTASC Standard #6: Communication and TechnologyWatching the video gives the students the opportunity to escape theeveryday routine of taking notes based on power point slides. I will use this different form of media to ensure that the students to not become bored with my teaching styles. The students will have to take notes on the video which is an effort on my behalf to make sure they stay on task. Writing notes which pertain to the video will also help me evaluate if the video is an acceptable form of teaching media.Key evidence for NCSS standards is whether you can teach the standard – Social Identity paper is weak evidence. SS Standard IV: Individual Development and Identity INTASC Standard 9: Reflective Practice and Professional GrowthThe social identity paper is evidence of my adherence to SS Standard IV, which relates to my individual development and identity, and to INTASC Standard 9, which relates to reflective practice and professional growth. In relation to SS Standard IV, byreflecting upon the way in which I was brought up and the things I was taught concerning race, social class, gender and sexuality, I believe I am better able to understand students of diverse backgrounds and to see how such backgrounds play a part in the development of students' attitudes and beliefs. Having reflected on these ideas and attitudes, I feel better equipped to guide my students as they "examine the interactions of ethnic, national or cultural influences in specific situations or events."Social Identity Paper is evidence of reflection but need to illustratehow this affects instruction. In relation to INTASC Standard 9, I think the social identity paper exhibits my committment to a practice of ongoing reflection. This is crucial to developing lessons that can impact all students and help them to embrace diversity and to understand where they, and others, are coming from as well as the best methods to employ in teaching the students effectively and
