Current health care trends which impact the client’s self care are also explored. PERFORMANCE OUTCOMESThe student will: Provider of Care- Utilize the nursing process to provide care for a variety of clients within theself - care model.- Practice within the legal and ethical definition of the Nurse Practice Act and adhere to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.- Demonstrate professional, caring behavior when interacting with clients, fellow students, nursing faculty, and the health care team. Manager of Care- Communicate effectively with members of the health care team.- Demonstrate the leadership role in a nursing system.- Successfully complete a 70-hour preceptorship with an approved RN preceptor at a participating institution.- Demonstrate accountability for the planning, organizing, and delegation of care in a nursing system. 1/14/2019 3Member of the Discipline- Understand the role of the professional nursing organization.- Describe the legal and political processes that impact the client’s self care and nursing systems.- Create a project that will benefit the nursing profession or health of others through service to individuals or the nursing community, using the knowledge, creativity, and capabilities of a collaborative learning group. - Develop a portfolio that demonstrates the student’s knowledge, skills, and abilities as a nurse. - Demonstrate preparedness for the National Licensure Examination. ASSOCIATE DEGREE OUTCOMES The course goals and objectives incorporate specific Associate Degree Outcomes (ADOs) established by the JCC Board of Trustees, administration, andfaculty. These goals are in concert with four-year colleges, universities, and reflect input from the professional communities we serve. ADOs guarantee students achieve goals necessary for graduation credit, transferability, and professional skills needed in many certification programs. The ADO addressed inthis class aids in developing the following skills/abilities for ADO 9, Working in Small Groups.Skills & Behaviors ProficientParticipatingThere is a clear definition of member roles and tasks tobe accomplished. All members take an active role. Members seek assistance from each other and ask questions.Managing ConflictConflicts are consistently resolved through open discussion and compromise by students.EvaluatingGroup members assess and evaluate self, individual, and group contributions.1/14/2019 4PREREQUISITES NUR 273 Wholly Compensatory Nursing STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Reading assignments (text, assigned articles, handouts) must be completed before coming to the class for which they are assigned. Students are encouraged to bring questions to class. Some questions, however, will be best answered following class because of limited class time. 2. Students are responsible for finding the meanings of any unfamiliar words or terms encountered in the readings, classroom, or clinical area. 3. Students are advised to write out the information specified in the objectives for each unit. All test questions will be based on objectives. DIVERSITYOur classrooms are becoming more and more diverse, and this may or may not be evident as we look around the classroom. We can all learn from each other. As your instructors, we invite you to share your unique perspectives on class topics based on your background. If we say something that is in any way inconsiderate, please let us know – we are still learning too! We also expect that students will be considerate of instructors and of one another. Click on Online Classes in the lower left corner. 3. Enter Username: Use the first 7 letters of your last name, the first 7 lettersof your first name, middle initial @stu.jccmi.edu. (Example = [email protected]) 4. Enter your password: The First letter of your first and last name (lower case), two digits of your day of birth, the last two digits of your birth year, and the last four digits of your JCC student I.D. number. 5. Click the login button. 6. Find your course, and click on Enter Course. 1/14/2019 5CHECKING YOUR GRADEYou can check your grade in Educator at any time. Log in to your course educator site as explained above, then click on the Grades link on the left side of the page.CHECKING YOUR COURSE GRADE OR TRANSCRIPTReport cards are no longer mailed from JCC. All grades and transcript information can be accessed online. Following are instructions.1. Go to www.jccmi.edu. 2. Click on e-Services on the right side of the page. 3. Choose the Students tab at the top. 4. Find transcripts and grades under My Information on the left side of the page.
