Treaty of Versailles Current LectureReview of last Lecture:- WWI starts in 1914- Shlieffen Plan got locked up in Belgian and didn't work- 1914 Battle of Lodz: o German army lost 60,000 meno Russians lost 95,000 men- Germans try to break through with poison gas but unsuccessful- US is neutral but selling guns to both sideso US also lent money to all allies- 1916 things start to fall aparto The Russians start blaming Alexandra for everything because she is German she was not doing anything wrongo Nicholas II takes control of troops and now every Russian soldier that dies is on his backo The population is starting to turn against the war- 1917 Woodrow Wilson goes before congress and demands declaration of waro Does it b/c Russia is backing out of waro If Russia backs out, German troops will turn from East side and focus on West side and close the trap which will end the warThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. The German army has been reduced to 100,000 men2. Reduce Germany down to 6 ships3. Germans have to pay 32 billion gold dollars4.
