Math 13700/13800/13900 Quiz 2: ALEKS Assessment Spring 2011 The purpose of this quiz is to get a clear idea of the level of algebra understanding of Math 13X00 students as a group. We appreciate your help with this. To receive credit for Quiz 2, complete the ALEKS Assessment to the best of your ability. Plan on spending ~45 minutes to do the assessment. There will be 20-30 questions in all. Have paper and pencil ready and you may use a calculator. Please be aware that this assessment is also intended for higher level math courses. Therefore, you will be asked some difficult questions. You are NOT expected to know all of the answers. Please do click “do not know” when that applies. Do the best that you can. Your quiz grade will be based on whether you complete the assessment on time. The deadline for completing the assessment is 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Your quiz grade will not be dependent upon your score on ALEKS. If you have technical difficulty using your own computer to do this quiz, please use an ITaP computer. Technical difficulties cannot be used as an excuse for not completing the quiz. Start this quiz early to avoid last-minute problems. Here are the steps for doing the ALEKS assessment: 1. Go to http://www.aleks.com 2. Click "SIGN UP NOW!" 3. In the "Using ALEKS with a Class?" box, enter the Course code: FKUEK-DMEGV and click Continue. 4. You will see that you are in "Placement - Su 2010". Click Continue. 5. Enter your personal data as it shows on your PUID. o Enter your name. Please do not use any nicknames. o Enter your Purdue email address (ie: [email protected]) o Enter your 10 digit PUID, in the form 12345-12345. 6. Click that you have read the agreement and click Continue. Your account is now created. You will see a page that shows your Login Name and Password. Please change your password right away to an easily remembered one. Write down your login name and password and click Continue. If you changed your password you will see a confirmation. Click Continue. Registration is now complete. ALEKS needs to check for some needed plug-ins. Please allow it to add these to the computer you are using. They will only have to be added once.Math 13700/13800/13900 Quiz 2: ALEKS Assessment Spring 2011 If plug-ins need to be added, you will have to restart your browser, not the computer, and log in again to http://www.aleks.com using your newly created login name and password. If you forgot your login name and/or password, check your email. An email has been sent to you confirming your password change. You will now go through a few pages that show you how to use the system. Please follow the directions so you will know how to enter answers and navigate around the system. Please read the instructions for assessment carefully. You are now ready to begin. Please find a quiet time and place where you will have minimal interruptions to complete the assessment.
