FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ. When can I change my schedule?A. You can change your schedule at any time and up to approximately one (1) month before any given rotation begins. The best way to remember the finaldrop/add date is, on the first day of any rotation, that is the last day to drop/add a rotation for the next month! You can come to my office to drop/add or email me with your request.Q. What does the column labeled "Period Requested" mean?A. That is the period that you requested, on your Registration Form, for a particular rotation.Q. What if there is not a number under the Period Taken column?A. No number indicates that the elective you requested during the period yourequested was not available. See question #1 for adding additional electives.Q. Why aren't the AHEC and away electives that I requested on my Registration Request Form showing up on my schedule?A. For AHEC electives, you must see Gayna Faulconer, AHEC Office, Harborview Towers, Suite 802 to officially register for the elective. After you do so, she will email me and I will add it to your schedule. For away electives, they will NOT be added to your schedule until I receivea confirmation letter from the program saying that you have been approved. Upon receipt of this confirmation, I will add it to your schedule.Q. Can I change my Medicine, Surgery or Psychiatry Core rotations?A. NOQ. What if there is no Report To information on my schedule?A. You need to call the person listed in the Contact Person column about 1 weekbefore the rotation begins to get instructions on when and where to report.Q. I can't remember the dates of the rotations and/or cannot remember what Period numbers are for what rotations.A. Go to the following website for the 2001-2002 Senior Schedule. Look in the folder marked "Senior Info" for this and other related information.http://www.musc.edu/~gillescf/Q. What do I do if I lose my schedule?A. Come by my office anytime and I will be glad to print you a new one.IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER In the past there has been an unwritten rule concerning taking time off during a rotation. Beginning with the 2001 school year, this will now be a formal written rule. It is still pending committee approval so, once that has been finalized, I willget a copy of the policy to you. It is your responsibility to see that you are registered for and have completed thenecessary rotations for your senior year. You can always check your schedule onthe home page under Student Resources as well as get your grades. You will need your Colleague ID number and password (last 4-digits of your SS# unless you have changed it). Please make sure to check this periodically so that we canassure that we obtain grades for you in the rotations for which you should be registered. If you are part of a team or on an externship during a holiday, the schedule of that team or externship supercedes the holiday schedule. I have attached a copy of the Senior Year schedule for your reference). You will receive via email and/or surface mail, preference sheets for your Cores. You will complete these and return them to the department who in turn will makethe assignments. I have NO control over the process. You must sign up for (in my office) and successfully complete the CPX exam. I have to have a confirmation letter/form for any away rotation you plan to attend. Without this confirmation, I cannot register you and without being registered, you are NOT covered for malpractice insurance. You will have to complete an Elective Evaluation for all electives in which you participate (except CORE courses). There will be a sheet in my office in which you can "log" the evaluations that you are turning in. This will keep them anonymous and I can give you credit for having turned them in. Without completed evaluations, your grades will be held until they have been received. Ihave plenty of forms in my office if you need
