It introduces computer hardware, software, procedures, systems, and human resources. It explores their integration and application business and other segments in society. The fundamentals of computer problem solving and programming language may be discussed and applied. COURSE GOALS: At the termination of the course the student will be able to: 1) Identify and use the major components of a computer. 2) Identify and use the Windows Operating System, 3) Achieve rudimentary level skills in the operation of computer and application software using word processing, spreadsheets, databases and desktop publishing tools. 3) Solve business problems using the computer as a tool. 4) Use Window applications as a more friendly-user interface. 5) Become more aware of the fast pace of current developments in microcomputers. EXAMINATION/GRADING POLICY: Scheduled Exams (3) 45% Class/Lab assignments 45% Final Exam 10% (Monday Dec 12 2011; 11:59 pm) Based on the normal grading system as follows: A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 Failing <60 No exam grade will be dropped. ASSIGNMENTS: . All assignments will be expected to be submitted for grading purposes on time. Use Blackboard for Assignment exercises to be completed and FOR DATES TO BE SUBMITTED. ALL ASSIGNMENTS SUCH AS: EXERCISES IN EACH TUTORIAL, REVIEW ASSIGNMENTS, CASE STUDIES, AND QUICK CHECKS SHOULD BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME. EACH TUTORIAL HAS QUICK CHECKS WITHIN THE TUTORIAL AND ALL QUICK CHECK SHOULD ALWAYS BE COMLETED AND SUBMITTED WITH THE OTHER ASSIGNMENTS STATED ABOVE. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: It is suggested to use a FLASH DRIVE to store/access assignment files and save all completed assignments.
