Department of Mechanical Engineering 2.017 Design of Electromechanical Robotic Systems, Fall 2009 Project Proposal Guidelines Proposal due date: 9/28/09 x We expect a 2 – 5 page project proposal from each team, including figures, sketches, and hand-written notes. x Use 11 or 12 pt font size and single-spacing. x First page should include: o Title o Team Members o Date o Class x Number each page. x The proposal should include the following sections: o Objective  Briefly state the objective of your project. What is the purpose of this project? o Project Description / Proposed Approach  Describe some background information on the project and explain why it is useful.  What specifically you are trying to achieve?  Describe the high level functional requirements that you identified for your vehicle, based on the objective.  Preliminary design or functional block diagram. o Project Plan  Provide a list of tasks and the people responsible for each task. Try to be as specific as you can for now. Tasks are laid out to be incrementally achieved.
