These class periods are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 to 12:56 p.m. During these periods there will be scheduled topics of discussions. Students will also be given daily quizzes during this time. Credit will only be given credit if they are in class that day.2) Students are required to complete, and turn in, homework assignments on the day of each unit test.3) All students are required to finish the tests for each unit by the prescribed date listed on the assignment sheet.4) All students must complete a portfolio project.5) All students are required to complete a Final Exam, which cannot be made up. TEST POLICY: All tests will be closed book. Calculators and class notes willbe allowed during all five units, including tests and the final exam. In general, exams cannot be made-up or retaken. All tests will be of the same format. There will be an indicated amount of points for each problem. The student must show all work for partial credit to be given..GRADING POLICY5 CLASS TESTS……………………………………………………….500 points FINAL EXAM………………………………….………………………150 points HOMEWORK…………………………………..……………………….75 pointsQUIZZES AND ATTENDANCE……………………………………….100 pointsPORTFOLIO PROJECT.........................................................................75 pointsWEIGHTED AVERAGE COURSE GRADE810 - 900 points……………………………………………...4.0765 - 809 points.…………………………………………..…3.5720 - 764 points…………………………………………..….3.0675 - 719 points………………………….…………………..2.5630 - 674 points…………………….……………………..…2.0540 - 629 points….…………………………………………..1.5495 - 539 points………….…………………………………..1.00 - 494 points....……………………………………..……….0.0Winter 2008MTH 120.04 ASSIGNMENT SHEETDATE SECTIONS TOPICS OF DISCUSSION 1/7 ###### Course Introduction1.1 - 1.3 Symbols & Sets of Numbers, Fractions 1/9 1.4 - 1.9 Arithmetic of Real Numbers, Properties of Real Numbers2.1 - 2.4 Simplifying Algebraic Expressions, Solving Linear Equations **************************************************************************************************** 1/14 ####### NO CLASSES1/16 2.5 - 2.6 Problem Solving and Formulas****************************************************************************************************1/21 2.7 Problem Solving1/23 2.8 Solving Linear Inequalities1.1 - 2.8 Review Exam 1 - Chapters 1 and 2****************************************************************************************************1/28 1.1 - 2.8 Exam 1 - Chapters 1 and 21/30 3.1 - 3.3, 3.7 Graphing Linear Equations, Functions****************************************************************************************************2/4 3.4 - 3.6 Slope of a Line, Slope- Intercept Form, Point-Slope Form 2/6 4.1 - 4.3 Solving Equations Graphically, by Substitution and by the Addition Method*******************************************************************************************************2/11 4.4 System of Equations - Problem Solving3.1 - 4.4 Review Exam 2 - Chapters 3 and 42/13 3.1 - 4.4 Exam 2 - Chapters 3 and 4**********************************************************************************************************2/18 5.1 - 5.2 Exponents, Add and Subtract Polynomials PORTFOLIO PROJECT2/20 5.3 - 5.4, 5.6 Multiply and Divide Polynomials 5.5 Negative Exponents and Scientific Notation******************************************************************************************************2/25 6.1 - 6.2 Factoring2/27 6.3 - 6.4 Special Factoring*******************************************************************************************************3/3 NO CLASS - MIDSEMESTER BREAK3/6 NO CLASS - MIDSEMESTER BREAK*********************************************************************************************************3/10 6.5 - 6.6 Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring, Problem Solving 3/12 5.1 - 6.6 Review Exam 3 - Chapters 5 & 6******************************************************************************************************3/17 5.1 - 6.6 Exam 3 - Chapters 5 & 63/19 7.1 - 7.2 Simplifying Rational Expressions, Multiply and Divide Rational Expressions ****************************************************************************************************3/24 7.3 - 7.4 Add & Subtract Rational Expressions3/26 7.5 - 7.6 Solving Rational Equations, Problem Solving****************************************************************************************************4/1 7.6 - 7.8 Proportion, Complex Fractions7.1 - 7.8 Review Exam 4 - Chapters 74/3 7.1 - 7.8 Exam 4 - Chapters 7*****************************************************************************************************4/7 8.1 - 8.2 Evaluating and Simplifying Square Roots4/9 8.3 - 8.4 Arithmetic of Square Roots****************************************************************************************************4/14 8.5 - 8.7 Solving Radical Equations , Radical Exponents4/16 9.1 - 9.2 Square Root Property, Solving Quadratic Equations*********************************************************************************************************** 4/21 9.3 Solving and Graphing Quadratic Equations8.1 - 10.3 Review Exam
