Your instructor will administratively drop you with a “X” on your fifth (5th) absence. If not eligible for the “X,” then you will be given an “F” for the course. No grade reversals will be given once dropped. 2. All written assignments must be turned in by the beginning of class on the day the assignment is due in order to be accepted/graded. 3. Late written assignments will be accepted through the next class meeting day. If you do not hand in an assignment at the beginning of class, 10 percentage points will be deducted for each day it is late. 4. Students with perfect attendance for the entire semester will receive 10 bonus points added to their written final exam grade. 5. Students should check email, announcements, and grades often throughout the semester on Blackboard. 6. Students have ONE WEEK after a grade or absence is posted to contest the reporting. After such date, the report will not be changed. 7. Students must come to class daily with course materials and take notes. If you are not prepared you will be asked to leave class resulting in an absence. 8. Laptops may not be used to take notes in class due to social network abusers. 9. You must silence or turn of cell phones for class. No texting during class. 10. No tobacco products are allowed in this classroom. 11. Students may only make up speeches in the event of sickness or the death of a family member and in both cases must provide proof. In the case of sickness, a doctor’s note is required to make up a speech. If you don’t go to the doctor, then you are not sick enough to miss class! In the event of a funeral, the funeral program or obituary is required. These are the only two cases accepted for any form of make up speeches. Being unprepared OR not knowing the date of your speech is not an acceptable excuse! 12. Scantrons will be provided for taking exams. 13. April 26 is the last day for a student to drop a course. 14. Words of warning: Missing a major assignment – Communication analysis paper, cover letter & resume, speech, exam, etc – will result in lowering your course grade one letter grade.
