AssignmentsNote that all assignments can be found on the Calendar and Learning Modules. A detailed explanation of each course component will follow. Chapter Exams When you are ready to take the exams and syllabus exam (during the allotted time period), click on Assessments found on the Course Menu or in each Learning Module. You will have 40 minutes for exams that have 50 questions and 20 minutes for exams that have 25 questions. You may take the chapter exams twice and the high grade will count. Each exam is worth 100 points. There is an excellent study guide on the Home Page. Module Exams Each module concludes with a module exam that you can take only once. It has questions from each chapter and there will be a random selection of questions from each chapter. There are a total of 50 questions and you will be allowed only 50 minutes to take the exam (the exact amount of time your professor allows for traditional classroom exams). You will find it impossible to locate all the questions in the text during the allotted time. You must know the material. Each module exam will be worth 200 points. Discussion Postings During the time allotted for each module you will make four bulletin discussion postings (You will find discussions under course Tools). Two of your postings for each module will be your reaction to two different articles related to U.S. or Texas government that your read on the New York Times Web site (found on the Home Page). Your posting should begin with the title of the article and date you read it. Write a paragraph very briefly telling about the contest of the article and then an extensive reaction (multiple paragraphs). Later during the time allotted for the learning module, read postings by other students or your professor and then make a third and fourth posting agreeing or disagreeing with another student. Please write a long paragraph (10-15 sentences) explaining why you agree or disagree. You must make four postings during the time allotted for the module and follow the above instructions to receive 50 points for each posting (for a total of 200 points for each module). Spelling and grammar will factor into your grade. At least one assignment will include a critical writing assignment. After the assignment period for the module has ended, your professor will read you discussions and post your points to My Grades found under the Course Menu. If you make a posting that does not relate to the assignment oryou are essentially chatting with another student, you will automatically receive a zero for the entire module discussion assignment. Final Exam The Final Exam will cover all the chapter material that you have read, studied, and previously been tested over in the course. It will consist of 100 questions selected randomly from all chapters. You will have 1 hour and 15 minutes (75 minutes) to take the exam. Each question will count 5 points for a total of 500 points. The exam will be organized so as to hamper your ability to locate the answers in the text. You may take this exam three times and the highest grade will be recorded. THERE MUST BE 8 HOURS BETWEEN ATTEMPTS. Saving Your Exam Answers When taking an exam, make sure that you SAVE your answer (s), wait a minute then submit your exam. Do not wait till less than 1 minute before deadline to do this. If you do not follow this procedure, I will receive no response from you and you will receive a zero for that assessment. Policies 1.
