The ATLAST Manual, which contains Matlab exercises, is optional, as is the associated student study guide.Pre- or corequisite: MAT 272, MAT 267 or equivalent. Grading: The semester grade will be computed from the Final exam (25%), 3 midterms (50%), and Labs & Quizzes (25%).Exam: Three tests will be given. The best possible preparation for the exams isregular attendance and completion of suggested homework problems. Midterm examswill be given in the Testing Center (PSA - 21) on the dates indicated on the examschedule. In order to be admitted to the testing center each student must have a validASU "Sun Card" . Your calculator program memory may be randomly viewedduring any exam and will be cleared if anything suspicious is written therein. Retain all graded tests/quizzes/labs up to the end of the semester. Makeup Tests: Will be given at the discretion of the instructor and only in the case of verified medical or other emergency. The instructor must be notified before the exam is given. Call the instructor's office (480-965-2254) or the MathematicsDepartment Office (480-965-3951) and leave a message.Calculators: A graphing calculator is required. A TI–83, TI -84 plus, or a TI-86 is recommended. An internet and mail account is required for all students. TI-89s and TI-92s cannot be used in class or during exams.MATLAB Labs: We will use Matlab for computer exercises. It is installed on the computers in the math labs in ECA 221 and 225, as well as on all machines in the Computing Commons and elsewhere. Instructions on how to download Matlab on your computer: - Go to this website: https://citrix.asu.edu - Down load the proper Client version for your system. - Log in with your asurite and password. - On the left window you'll see a list of applications you can run, including Matlab. MATLAB can also be downloaded and installed by any ASU student for free at http://softwared.asu.edu/taxonomy/term/9You are not required to purchase Matlab. You are encouraged to work in groups on your assignments in MATLAB.Homeworks/Quizzes: Homeworks will be assigned on WebWork. Quizzes may be either announced or unannounced, and are given at the discretion of the instructor. Quizzes frequently reflect material that has recently been discussed in class. Except to resolve those situations described below, no changes may be made in this schedule without prior approval of the Dean of the college in which the course is offered.
