The due date for each homeworkwill be expressed along with the assignment on Sakai. Homework willbe collected every Tuesday unless otherwise stated in class. Homeworkwill always be due at the beginning of class; I will not accept homeworkthat is handed to me at the end of lecture. If you are unable to be inclass, you may leave your homework in the envelop I have right out-side my office before the time the assignment is due. Unless otherwisestated, each homework will have the same weight. To receive credit, you must show all your work neatly, label each problem clearly, andstaple all pages together in the correct order. LATE HOMEWORKAND ANY HOMEWORK VIOLATING THE ABOVE RULES WILLRECEIVE ZERO CREDIT.You are free and even encouraged to discuss homework problems withyour classmates, the instructor, and the teaching assistant. However, you must write down your own solution with individual comments.COPYING THE HOMEWORK IS FORBIDDEN AND IS A VIOLA-TION OF THE HONOR CODE; see the last page of this document.Your lowest two homework grades will be dropped.Quizzes: Class attendance is not mandatory, so quizzes are intended to encour-age continuous review of the material and your presence. Whatever score you receive on aquiz will be considered extra credit.Exams: All exams are required and THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP EX-AMS. Missed exams will receive no credit. All exams are closed bookand closed notes. You are not allowedto use a copier to reduce several pages to a single page. For the finalexam, you can bring two such sheets. You will also need to bring acalculator to the exams. If you have three finals within a 24-hour period and, therefore, willneed to be excused from the regularly scheduled final exam, you mustobtain a written Dean’s excuse and discuss the situation with me atleast three weeks before the regularly scheduled final exam so that analternative arrangement can be made.2Class Policy: You are required to bring your textbook and a calculator to class everytime.Timely attendance is critical to effective learning, and tardiness isdistracting and disrespectful to me and your classmates. Arriving 15minutes or more after the beginning of lecture is not acceptable and,if repeated, will disqualify you from receiving any extra-credit points.A student who arrives late regularly will eventually be asked to leave.Use of cell phones, tablets, and laptops during class is strictly pro-hibited, and ALL CELL PHONES ARE TO BE ON SILENT (NOTVIBRATE) during class.Private discussions during class are disruptive and can distract a largegroup of your classmates.
