Csci 8715 Spatial Databases Group 2 (Jisu Oh, Shan Huang) Peer Review of Group 7 The article “An Object Model of Direction and Its Implication” was reviewed by Group 7. They provided a narrative and a presentation for this paper. Slides Feedback: Motivation/Problem Statement: Problem statement slide is missing. Major Contributions: Missing Key Concepts: • Good job of explaining of the key concepts • It would be nice if some of the figures in the article can be incorporated for easy understanding. Validation Methodology: Missing Assumptions: Missing Rewrite: General Comments: Overall the slide for the presentation has a clear from, easy to read. Narrative Paper Feedback: Summary Paragraph: • Good job of summarizing the article’s major contributions, e.g. model direction as an object using a unit vector, and validation methodology, e.g. demonstrate the applicability of the model by geographic query examples. Introduction Paragraph: • Good job of explaining of motivation of the article • · Paragraph title needs to spell out. (Intro –Introduction) Key concept: • Good job of providing explanation of the basic concepts, the frame reference, and the new spatial data type hierarchy • Incorporate figures from the article for easy understanding, for instance, including figure 6 in the narrative would be easy to show the difference between the old and new spatial data type hierarchy Contributions: • The major contributions of the article in the oriented spatial objects paragraph. Nice job providing examples to illustrate the newly defined spatial object. • · Use different font and indentation for easy reading, for instance, CREATE TABLE statements. Conclusion: • As in introductory paragraph, excellent job of summarizing contents of article and emphasizing the most important points. General Comments: • · Open geometry and its applications need to be explained in more detail. • · Some of the questions provided by the Prof. Shekhar need to be addressed in the paper, for example, assumption made by the author, validation methodology used in the article, and possible suggestions for rewriting the
