The first of your web sites must contain at least six (6) linked web pages. The second web sitemust contain at least three (3) linked web pages and a text file. Your first web site would be created in Windows environment, using text-based editor (such as Notepad). The second web site would be created in Linux environment, using command line and vi editor.Following are the steps required to complete this assignment: General Research Phase1. Conduct Web-based research in order to find out what the determinants of the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ web sites are2. Based on the conducted research, establish 6 different criteria of ‘good’ web sites3. Based on the conducted research, establish 6 different criteria of ‘bad’ web sites4. Get an account (highly likely you already have one) with Ramsites (http://www.vcu.edu/web/publish/start/accounts.html ).5. Download “WS_FTP” (http://www.vcu.edu/web/train/HTM1/wsftp/index.html ) that you will use to upload your pages to Ramsites.6. If you are not familiar with HTML, find a basic tutorial on the Web (there are must be thousands of them… do not go too fancy, get a simple one), or use the one provided by Ramsites. First Web site Phase (Windows-based), Part One7. Using Notepad (do not use FrontPage, Netscape Composer, or any other 'html editor' to construct the site), create your home page (index.html) with the links to other 5 pages that you will create in the process of the completion of the project. Your home page must contain some graphics of your choice and your personal information (your name, major, etc.)8. Using Notepad, create one (1) web page according to the chosen 6 ‘bad’ criteria (meaning, these criteria must be implemented, and not only listed, on your page). This page must contain the list of the ‘bad’ criteria, each one with the references (the address of the web site(s) where you got each of the criteria from)9. Using Notepad, create one (1) web page according to the chosen 6 ‘good’ criteria (meaning, these criteria must be implemented, and not only listed, on your page). This page must contain the list of the ‘good’ criteria, each one with the references (the address of the web site(s) where you got each of the criteria from)First Web site Phase (Windows-based), Part Two10. You are to create a splash-page (front, or first page) dedicated to the Operating Systems. From this page you provide two links to two (2) pages where you offer your evaluation (pluses and minuses) of the Windows XP and Linux operating systems. Please, provide the return link to your “index” page as well.11. Page with “minuses” must be built according to the “bad” criteria12. Page with “pluses” must be built according to the “good” criteria.Second Web-site Phase (Linux-based), Part One13. You need to have Putty (Search the developer's website for Putty, download Putty.exe, then install it on your machine). 14. Read the tutorials located at http://www.people.vcu.edu/~gasaunde/EBUS202/logging_on.htm and http://128.172.188.203/info300/MinimalShellAndHTML.html , courtesy of G. Saunders Second Web-site Phase (Linux-based), Part Two15. In the second part of the Assignment # 2 you need to build a good-looking website in your home directory at info300.net using the Linux command line interface and a character-based text editor, preferably vi. The site should have at least an index.html, and two other pages. 16. There is a requirement that command line and text-based tools be used in the construction of the site. Do not use FrontPage, Netscape Composer, or any other 'html editor' to construct the site. Do not use Notepad, Word, or any other Windows text editor on your desktop.17. Place a text file named Report in your home directory with a few sentences describing your view on the connection between the concepts depicted in Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave” and the process of your education.18. Make a directory named 'web' in your home directory, use ‘chmod +x’ to allow Apache web server to serve files from it. Put index.html and at least two other pages there using vi19. The first page of the web-site must contain list of things that you don’t like about the lectures and the textbook that we use in INFO 300. Justify each by providing short, 1-2 sentences explanation.20.
