Some versions or equivalent programs are called WinFTP, WS_FTP32, and WS_FTP95LE, for example. Look for something that begins with WS_FTP.For this lab assignment:Each of you should create and print out your own unique home page that reflects you and your personal interests. Have fun! Home Page - before you start...In this lab, you will be creating or updating your personal web page. To do this you will need to work on a computer that has a text editor (Notepad, for example) and a program that allows you to transfer files from that computer to Sage (WS_FTP, WinFTP, etc.). You will also need a browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer. This lab assumes you will be using the PC's in the UC Lab which have Notepad, WS_FTP, and Netscape on them. Before you get started, keep these requirements in mind:1. Please keep the information on your page appropriate for general public viewing. Many elementary agechildren visit web pages on the Internet. It would be nice to give them a good impression of PLU and the students who go there.2. Your page should have some kind of theme or organization.3. You must use HTML tags (commands) typed in a text editor. Do not use a special HTML editor to createyour home page.4. Your home page must be readable! (E.g. do not use dark colored text on a dark background).5. You must include the tags <html>, <head>, <title> and <body> together with the associated ending tags within your home page. 6. In the <head> section of the home page, use the comment command ( <!-- comment --> ) to include your name, the date, your section number, and your URL address. (You can exclude your namefor privacy reasons - please see below).7. You must have a minimum of four links to other sites. Try and build a theme around these sites. Can you find sites that originate in other countries?8. You must include at least one unordered list (<ul>), ordered list (<ol>), or definition list (<dl>). The list must have at least 3 items. Hint: the list items can be your links, if desired.9. You must include at least three images including at least one picture The other images could be bullets, buttons, lines, or backgrounds as desired.10. You must include text of different sizes, formats, and colors. Be creative!CSCE-220 - Lab Assignment #10Due December 14, 200011. Include one other HTML significant feature such as specifying colors or background in the body, a mailtoaddress, a second type of list, or a table.A note on privacy - Remember that your home page is accessible to anyone on the internet. If you are concerned about your privacy, here are some suggestions:- Do not include any personal information. Do not include address information, a picture of yourself, your name, or anything else that is personal. The content of your home page is entirely up to you. - After lab 10 has been graded, you may remove your home page from Sage. Look on Sage's menu to find the option that removes personal web pages.Ideas for colors, graphics and images:- Visit the "pluce.html" page which can be found using the "HTML FILES" button on the class page or the URL ftp://ftp.cs.plu.edu/pub/faculty/csce220/fall98/html/pluce.html. It has links to lots of backgrounds and images that you can download onto your floppy and then use on your home page. Another PLU page is http://www.plu.edu/pics/pics.html- You can copy an image or picture on the web. To do this, right-click on the image in Netscape. You will get a shortcut menu. Select the "Save image as..." option. Save the image to your floppy. I recommend you keep the original file name. The file should save as a .gif or .jpg file . You can use WS_FTP to upload it to your Sage account when it is time to publish your home page for the world to see. (You must avoid copying copyrighted materials.)- You can use the scanner in the library to scan a picture or photo. Make sure you save this image as a.jpg or .gif file. Please do not scan copyrighted materials without permission from the artist or without citing who the artist is.Home Page - ready, set, go! 40 pointsCreate a home page directory on Sage:You may have done this in class. If you already completed these steps or already have a home page on Sage, you can skip this section. They only need to be done once.1. Start Telnet or a similar terminal program. One convenient method is to click "Telnet to Sage" on the "Online Services" option on the PLU home page.2. Log on to Sage using your sage account name and password. 3. At the Sage menu, select the [W] option to see more menu options.4. At the Sage sub-menu, select [W] to setup your personal home page. Type y to answer each question. This sets up the infrastructure for your home page, including creating a directory called public_html. You will want to write down your URL address displayed on the last screen. Then press Return to go back to the sub-menu.5. At the Sage sub-menu, select [Z] to return to the main menu.6. Select [Z] a second time to log off of Sage.7.
