(ISBN 0-805-38933-4)Discussion Section Summary: The purpose of discussion is to review, expand upon and answer your questions from Astronomy 100 lectures in a smaller group setting. In part, this will be accomplished through a graded activity in each Discussion section. To get the most out of our weekly meetings, come prepared with questions and topics from lectures, your readings or homework.Grading: Out of a total of 700 points for this course, 150 points come from your attendance and participation in Discussion. There will be an activity each week, worth approximately 10 points. Additional take-home assignments may be given over the course of the semester. There is no extra credit or make-up work available for these points if you miss class.*** Attendance Policy: Attendance at each Discussion section is expected and is to your benefit. If you know that you will be absent for a reason excused by the University, contact me as soon as possible, and a make-up can be scheduled within a week of your excused absence. Official excuses include University sponsored athletic trips, religious holidays, documented illnesses, etc. Except in the case of an emergency, you must tell me about your absence BEFORE your discussion section meets. Send an email or leave a message by phone. Academic Honesty: You should do your own work and abide by University policies on academic integrity.
