The paper should describe how a topic from our class relates to one of the research projects from the Physics Research Fair on Oct. 1 in Fondren Science 127, 2:30-5:00 p.m. 2. The paper should have a title page. This page should include your name, the title of the poster on which you are reporting and the name of the presenter of the poster.3. The body of the paper should be 1 - 2 pages in length using 12 pt font. Line spacing should be set to 1.5.4. Paper margins should be 1” on the top, bottom, left and right hand sides of the paper.5. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Any student who plagiarizes material will be dealt with in accordance to university policy outlined on pages 180-186 of the 2009-2010 Student Handbook.6. Grammar errors, spelling errors, etc. will count against you. I recommend that you take advantage of the writing center at SMU (http://smu.edu/alec/wc.asp) if you need help with any stage of your writing.7. You will be required to attach your unique admission ticket (available from the fair) to the title page of your paper.8. You are required to submit a both a hard copy and a PDF electronic version by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15 (one week prior to the second in-class exam). The electronic version should be submitted via email to [email protected] Evaluation Criteria1. The science content is accurate. The writing demonstrates a clear understanding of the topic/thesis. You should briefly describe the work of one presenter that you found most interesting and describe a topic from our class that relates to his/her work. 2. The writing contains the essential organizational components, including a title page, introduction, body, and conclusion.3. The introduction moves from a general focus to a specific thesis. Each paragraph in the body is well constructed. Ideas are presented in an appropriate order and are supported by information and logic. The body of the paper must contain at least one relevant formula from the course, with a discussion of how that formula relates to the thesis of the paper. The conclusion restates the thesis and broadens the focus of the writing to include ramifications or implications. 4.
