ART METHODS IDEAS & DRAFT SYLLABUSSonja WiedenhauptPamelia Valentine, National Board Certified Visual Arts Teacher, Early Adolescent/Young Adult] VisualArts Oakland Bay Junior High SchoolBy the end of the quarter you will demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:1. Knowledge of the scope and sequence within the GLE’s - Elementary K-5 - Middle 6-9- High School 10-12 2. Knowledge of how to work with and integrate CBPA’s into teaching. 3. How to design long term goals for unit planning4. How to design specific learning objectives to improve student learning that meets long term goals5. How to design appropriate grade level scope and sequence of lessons for 2-D and 3-D visual arts as they apply to grades 8-96. How to build thinking and authentic assessment into art 7. Increased knowledge in one area of arts pedagogy You’ll demonstrate your knowledge and skill through:1. An outline of a plan for preparing students to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to complete an art project.2. Complete design of at least one Curriculum Unit to span 3 weeks of that plan with a focus on particular aspect of art pedagogy you want to refine (see curriculum development project for program)3. Resource list including thorough critical review of two resources and detailed annotations for at least 5 more resources that you plan to include in your professional library.Observation of lesson and reflection— On selected Thursdays, you will observe Pamelia’s 12:04 classat Oakland Bay Junior High School. After this 5th period class, while Pamelia teaches her last class, you will have about an hour to reflect on what you saw using the “learning edges reflection” protocol. You’ll debrief the lesson and discuss art pedagogy with Pamelia from 2-4pm.
