Texturing a Gastly PlanetBy: Farm SaechaoBefore texturing• For this tutorial I will be texturing in Layout so I can render it at the end. • but of course you can texture it in modeler as well.• Surface editor in both modeler and layout are the same so it would be the same procedure.• First off, make a sphere in Modeler• And load it into layout.Surface editor• Click on the surface editor tab on the side to open surface editor • [shortcut to surface editor is F5 for 9.0 and F3 for 7.5]• There are some settings already made but we can change it if we need to after we apply our textures.• Click on the T on the right end of color section to open the Texture Editor.• In texture editor go to layer type and change the image map to gradient.• Pick a color of your choice but I suggest you start with a darker color so it would give off a better contrast.• Add another gradient layer and this time pick a lighter color for cloud effects.• Add a third layer, make sure this time it’s a Procedural layer.• The procedural type is on turbulence by default and that is the texture we will use.• Go to the blending mode on top and change it from normal to Alpha.• Here you can play with the scale, color, frequencies, contrast and small power until you have a textural effect you like.• Here I changed the • Frequencies to 20• Contrast to 65%• Small Power to 0.75• And I have it on automatic sizing• Again you can change the scale to your likings.• You can also add more layers and change the opacity as well.• When you’re done applying the settings, go to the bottom and click “Use Texture.”• Before rendering make sure you have antialiasing on.• Click F9 to Render and it will turn out like this.The
