Once the due date has passed, a Quiz CAN NOT be submitted. DISCUSSION BOARD - You will participate in a Discussion Board each week worth a maximum of 10 points per week ( with a possibility of extra credit for outstanding posts). The forum will be posted weekly in Course Compass. You are to discuss the chosen topic using the ideas from the stated chapter. You will be required to post at least one original answer to the stated topic and at least one reply to another student’s answer.A reply is NOT “I agree” or “I don’t agree”. I’m going to be a little bit flexible for the first couple of weeks to see how this will pan out. The posts and replies should be thought out and have meaningful ideas. A post or a response must be at least 5 sentences long. There will also be a few (1 or 2) projects that will be assigned later in the semester.Make Up Policy for Tests - If there is a valid reason for missing an exam, the instructor must be notified in writing using email. The four Chapter exams cannot be made up and must be taken in the designated week. For those of you who have trouble with the designated day-please give me an email notice of your need to meet on a different day of the same week!CLASS ATTENDANCE : Class attendance is required only for the first day of class and the four Chapter tests . These will be proctored on campus and must be taken on the scheduled day at 11am in PS 007. Students must submit some work every week to be counted as present in the course. All work will be tracked in Oncourse.QUESTIONS - Since this is an internet course, there are no lectures or scheduled class times. You can always email me any questions either from Course Compass or to my [email protected] address (PLEASE do not use Oncourse to email me). You can also call me at my office or home (please no calls after 11pm and before 7 am). I will also be available for any questions, calls or face-to-face visits during the Tuesday – Thursday 11am – 12:15pm time slot and during office hours. In short, I can usually be contacted pretty easily, and I will always try to get back to you as soon as possible. You may use a calculator for tests and quizzes. TI-30XA or any scientific calculator. You may NOT use a cell phone as a calculator during an exam!LAST DAY TO WITHDRAW WITHOUT PENALTY IS FRIDAY Friday, March 6, 2012 Math Lab Information: Location: PS 015; 941-2670; Weekly schedule is posted outside the door and at www.ius.edu/mathlab/ Videos available for checkout from lab. Private Tutors: The Student Development Office UCS 203 offer private tutors for a small fee (about $5 per hour payable in advance). If you are interested, call 941-2312 early in the semester. Studying for the Class: This is a college class and is much different than one taught in high school. We cover a lot of material and have limited time in a semester. You should expect to spend at least 10+ hours per week doing homework and quizzes.
