We study the behaviors of the economy in the very long run, in the long run, and in the short run, and discuss effectiveness of macroeconomic policies in these time horizons. Requirements and Grading There will be 3 exams (including a cumulative final exam), and 4 – 6 homework in this semester. All of them count toward your final grade according to: Homework: 10% Exam 1: 25% Exam 2: 25% Final Exam: 40% The final letter grade depends on your relative standing compared to the rest of the class. Highest 20% A 30% - 20% AB 60% - 30% B 75% - 60% BC 95% - 75% C Below 95% D & F Exams Dates Exam#1: October 9th, Thursday, in class Exam#2: November 20th, Thursday, in class Final Exam: December 16th, Tuesday, place TBA Make-up Exam and Homework Policy NO MAKEUP EXAM will be given for the midterms. If you miss one midterm due to factors BEYOND YOUR CONTROL, the other midterm and the final will be re-weighted to determine your grade. A MAKEUP EXAM WILL BE GIVEN FOR THE FINAL EXAM ONLY IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES. Late homework assignment will NOT be accepted.Discussion Sections Attendance to the discussion section is highly recommended. Discussion sections will cover practice problems related to the material from the lecture. You can switch discussion sections only if your TA and the TA you transfer to both agree. If you need to transfer to another section, and you have a valid reason, talk to your TA. Grading Complaints If you have a complaint about a grade, see your TA. If you still feel an error was made, type a letter describing the complaint, the grade you received, the grade you think you deserve, and hand in this complaint to me.
