Psych 350 1st Edition Lecture1Outline of Current Lecture I. Syllabus OverviewCurrent LectureI. Syllabus OverviewThere will be four non-cumulative exams in the course (no exam during finals week). Each exam is worth 50 points, for a course total of 200 points. The exams are the only source of points/grading except for extra credit opportunities. Each test will consist of 15 multiple choice questions worth 2 points each (30 points total) and 5 short answer questions worth 4 points each (20 points total). The short answer questions to be used on the test will be provided on Angel, but no study guide will be posted. You cannot bring in prepared answers for the short answer questions to the exam. For extra credit you can participate in departmental research, upto 3 units of research for 6 extra credit points. There is also an optional extra credit paper based upon a film watched during dead week. If you attend class during dead weak and complete the paper you can receive up to 6 extra credit points, or up to 4 extra credit points for writing the paper without attending all three classes of dead week. The professor may also offer in-class opportunities for in class extra credit that are not disclosed at this time. All extra credit is voluntary. There will be no curving in the class and there will be no bumping of grades. The grading scale according to points is provided on the syllabus on Angel. Attendance will not be taken and is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged because lecture notes/powerpoints will not be posted on Angel. The professor requests that if you do not plan to be an active participant in the class to not attend lecture that day. The course schedule including class topic, chapter covered in the book, and exam dates is also provided on Angel. The professor will not test on concepts from the book that she did not cover in class but recommends it if you plan to miss lecture or need supplemental information.
