What is Public Health?b. Where did public health come from?c. Why is it important? Current LecturePublic Health is everywhere. In today’s news there were two cases of a shooting. The first case was a shooting at a Martin’s Grocery Store which injured two civilians. The shooter was said to be a middle-aged man. The second shooting was in New Mexico at a middle school. The shooterwas a fourteen year old student, who ended up injuring three students and one teacher. Why this news? This news makes the public aware of the current situations as far as gun violence and the right to bear arms. People have the right to express their own opinions, but when it not only affects them but others around them the situation changes. In this case some may agree that they havea right to protect themselves and own a gun. Others disagree and say that by not allowing guns or having more restrictions on guns, the gun violence would lessen. In the United States gun violence is a recurring issue and has the highest rates than any industrialized country. The health aspect would be the state of mind or mental health. Both shooters may have had a mental health problem, they also were different ages. Almost two decades apart and both shooters are compared in the public health eye. In SC women killed by men is the highest in the nation. Guns were the most commonly used in domestic violence.
