professional This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform installation configuration of Windows 2000 Server and day to day administrative tasks Students With Windows Server 2003 Environment Manage hardware devices Create and Manage Users Implement and Manage Groups Administer Access to Files Manage Disk and Data Storage Explain and use Advanced File System Management Deploy Printing Services Administer Group Policies Understand the Security Basics for Windows Server 2003 Resources Microsoft maintains a web site that contains many online seminars and other supplemental material that may be needed to enhance understanding of course material It is the student s responsibility to take advantage of the resources offered by this web site even if specific assignments do not require it Students will find links to several recommended seminars under External Links on the class Blackboard Additionally Blackboard contains links to the Windows 2003 Home Page and a Windows 2003 Resource page One Minute Paper Students are asked to complete a short evaluation after each class known as the One Minute Paper The papers should be turned in to the instructor prior to leaving class Forms can be found via External Links on the class Blackboard Grading and Evaluation Criteria 45 of the grade is based on a midterm 20 and a final examination 25 Both examinations are cumulative and given in a varied format An in class review will be held prior to each examination 35 of the grade is based on completing the lab assignments in the course lab manual Lab assignments are to be completed in a timely manner Written lab reports are due Tuesday mornings at the start of class Lab reports should contain notes regarding the performance and results of the lab projects as well as the answers to the specific questions posed in each lab assignment Reports must be typed in APA format be neat and orderly and all notes answers to questions must be in complete sentences Lab assignments and any special instructions along with due date should be posted on Blackboard by Sunday evening Students will be advised of any changes in this procedure It is expected that students will start work on assignments as soon as they are posted and the student has researched the relevant material This is not a Lab class therefore students should not expect significant amounts of lab time during class periods The amount of lab time available will be directly proportional to how well the class is prepared for the assignments 10 of the grade is based on quizzes Quizzes are unannounced and will be based on the material to be covered usually will be given at the beginning of a new chapter and may vary from 3 to 5 questions that may be in any format Students must be present in class at the time the quiz starts no makeup quizzes will be given 10 of the grade is based on keeping a project notebook Students are asked to obtain a small notebook to keep notes on the results of assigned case projects at the end of each chapter in the text All notes should be neat and complete sentences Notebooks will be collected unannounced from time to time Students are expected to keep their notebooks up to date at all times Up to date means that all case projects have thru the week prior to collection should be completed Students are encouraged to discuss case projects via the class discussion board The following grading scale will be used 90 100 A 87 89 B 80 87 B 70 79 C 60 69 D BELOW 60 F The instructor reserves the right to change this
