Access: Importing data from an Excel spreadsheetAccess: Hands-On exercises 12 points1. Complete the practice problems 1 and 2 page 92 - 94 in your text. Make sure your first and last names appear as the data in the fields. Be very careful to follow directions precisely when you create the table. Make sure the field names are exactly as shown. In particular, they do not contain any blanks.2. Make sure you save the My First Database.mdb file to floppy disk, and make a backup copy.Access: Creating a new table and form 28 pointsIn this section you will create a new table and new form for the faculty extending the My First Database database created in the hands-on exercises. You will also add an advisor field to the student table and assign student advisors. It is very important that the field’s names are typed exactly as shown without spaces1. Create a new table in My First Database.mdb called "Faculty". Include the following fields specified below. In each case, the caption should be the same as the field name except add spaces between words.Field name Field Type Field PropertiesSocialSecurityNumber Text Field size = 9. *Use Social Security as the Input Mask. Set Indexed to "Yes (No Duplicates)". Store without the symbols in the mask. (See note below if the input mask wizard is not available on your computer.)FirstName Text Field size = 20Important: Lab 8 will be a continuation of lab 7. In these labs you will use several files:- My First Database.mdb you will create this file in hands on Exercise 1 Ch.2.- faculty.xls download from the class directory for lab 7- ourdata.mdb download from the class directory for lab 8 Together, the files will use about 500KB of floppy disk space. (They may use even little more space on a hard disk.) Please make sure you have a floppy disk with an adequate amount of disk space. It would be very unpleasant to run out of disk space while you are in the middle of the lab. Import a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to append names to the faculty table.a) Close all tables.b) Choose File: Get External Data: Import; select files of type: Microsoft Excel (*.xls).c) Pick the file faculty.xls (which you downloaded from the class web site) and click import.d) In the Import spreadsheet Wizard dialog box, then while working through the Wizard's steps select “Faculty” and check the "First row contains column headings". To make this convenient, we will add an advisor field to the ”Student" table and an advisor combo box that obtains it values from the faculty table to the student information form.a) Select the "Student" table in the design mode and add an advisor field 9 characters long.Use the social security number input mask field. This field contains the advisors Social Security number and points to the "Faculty" table.b) Create Students Form, using as example H/o ex. 2 and 3 from chapter 2. Select the "Students" Form and enter the design mode.c) Paste a combo box on the form. Put the box below the major combo box and above the buttons. If necessary, move the buttons down to make this possible.d) As you proceed thought the combo box wizard, make sure you select "I want the combo box to lookup up the values in a table or query". Select the "Faculty" table. Pick "Last Name", "First Name", "Middle Initial" and "SocialSecurityNumber" as the fields with values to be displayed (in that order). Make sure the “Hide Key Column” box is checked.Store the value in the advisor field of the "Student" table. The caption should be "Advisor"e) After you have finished with the combo box wizard, change the name of the box to "Advisor" in the properties box and change the tab order so that the advisor comes just before the buttons.f) Test the revised form by (randomly) selecting advisors for each of the students.Make sure you save the My First Database.mdb file to floppy disk, and make a backup copy.Also make a copy that you can turn in.What to turn in:1.
