Authors: Salas/Hille/Etgen. Pub-lisher: John Wiley & Sons, Inc.• Note: You do not need to purchase this text. It is available onlinethrough CourseWare at www.casa.uh.edu.2 Work & Quizzes2.1 HomeworkHomework• Homework will be collected on Thursday of the second week of class, andon each successive Tuesday starting the third week of classes.1• A list of problems will be posted on the course homepage by the previousThursday in a pdf file for completing the homework. You must print offthis file and provide your work and answers on the sheets. Staple themin the upper left hand corner, and make sure that all information (name,etc.) is provided. Any deviation from these instructions will result in agrade of ZERO.• We will select 2-3 problems at random to grade. We will not return yourhomework.2.2 Daily GradesDaily Grades• Daily grades will be given in lecture b e ginning the third week of class.Daily grades will consist of simple multiple choice questions. Daily gradeswill also gauge attendance.• The daily grades form is posted on the course homepage. You must printout this form and BRING it to class every day beginning week 3 . No otherform will be accepted.• Make sure all the identifying information is filled in. UH-ID is your 7-digitPeopleSoft ID Number, Lab is your lab section number, and Date is thedate at which the daily grades are given.• Questions will be asked in lecture at random times.• You will mark your answers on the daily grades form and drop the formin a box at the end of class.• Your daily grades will not be returned.2.3 QuizzesWeekly Written Quizzes• Quizzes will be given every week on Thursday in lab.• Quizzes will be returned in lab.2.4 Online QuizzesWeekly Online Quizzes• Online quizzes will be given most weeks.• You can attempt these quizzes a s many times as you like until they expire.• The highest grade will be used for your score.2• If you fail to reach 70% during three weeks of the s em este r, I have theoption to drop you from the course.• You can access the quizzes by logging into CourseWare at www.casa.uh.edu.3 Exams3.1 ExamsExams• All sections of Math 1431 take common exams.• Three exams will be given during the semester in CASA (located on thesecond floor of Garrison).• You can access the scheduler for these exams by logging into CourseWareat www.casa.uh.edu.• Each exam will consist of both multiple choice and written questions.• The multiple choice questions will be machine graded.• The written questions will be graded by the instructors and teaching as-sistants for all sections of Math 1431, and they will be returned in lab.3.2 Final ExamFinal Exam• A comprehensive final exam will be given in CASA.• You can access the s cheduler for this exam by logging into CourseWare atwww.casa.uh.edu.4 Grades4.1 InfoGrade Information• 300 points determined by exams 1, 2 and 3• 100 points determined by lab work, written quizzes, homework, dailygrades and online quizzes.• 200 points determined by the final exam• 600 points total3More Grade Information• 90% and above - A• at least 80% and below 90%- B• at least 70% and below 80% - C• at least 60% and below 70% - D• below 60% - F4.2 AttendanceAttendance• Attendance is Mandatory!!• Attendance will be taken in lab.• I will allow you a total of 3 unexcused absences from lecture and lab(total).• You will lose 1% of your grade for every unexcused absence from lectureor lab after the third.• Documented University of Houston excused absences will be
