To understand the causes, effects and associations of those phenomena, sociologists classify, analyze and predict those social issues scientifically. After completing this course, student should apply following course materials in their real life: A. COURSE REQUIREMENTS 1. Three midterm examinations (All exams will based on lectures and the textbook; they are not cumulative) 2. Final exam (Also not cumulative) 3. Term project: You have to select a topic from any social issue of your choice and type a six or seven page, double-spaced paper about it. Your project include six different steps as follow: a. Topic of the project (Should be sociological or political topic) b. Introduction (two paragraphs) why you are doing this topic (20 points) c. Reviewing of the related literature, at least two sources (20 points) d. Analyzing related variables, at least one page (30 points) e. Conclusion (20 points). f. Bibliography (10 points). g. Your project should be submitted the day of final exam, the late project will not be accepted. REMINDER#1: 1. You have to follow exact format of project which is in my faculty website: faculty.rcc.edu/andacheh REMINDER#2: You are responsible for all lectures and textbook materials METHOD OF INSTRUCTION A. Lecture B. Classroom Discussion C. Oral Reports D. Basic Text Reading E. Project F. Audio-Visual Aids3 G. Online/Internet ADMINISTRATION 1. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory. (More than four absences Automatically you will be dropped). 2. No beverages or food in the classroom. 3. No trafficking in the classroom. 4. Cell phones should be turned off in the classroom. 5. Anyone who plagiarizes/cheats will receive an “F”on the assignment or Test. 6. Instructor has the right to change the content of this syllabus at any time. GRADING SCALE The following grading scale will be adhered to: 90-100 percent =A 80- 89 percent = B 70- 79 percent = C 60- 69 percent = D <60 percent = F METHOD OF EVALUATION 1. Three midterm examinations (each worth 50 points) (150 points) 2. Final examination (50 question) (50 Points) 3. Project (100 points) 4.
