Five full rounds of golf must be completed by semesters end. Class meets off campus. Course Requirements: - Attendance, participation, and promptness - Accomplishment of daily assignments - Abide by golf rules and attire - Complete assigned rounds of golf and written final Course Format Includes: Lecture and Video tapes, driving range practice, demonstrations, putting and chipping techniques, and course play. Method of Evaluation / Grading procedure: • 60% ATTENDANCE / PARTICIPATION – 60PTS • 20% SKILL & ETIQUETTE – 20PTS • 20% WRITTEN FINAL EXAM – 20PTS 100 % CLASS GRADE – 100PTS A 90 – 100 B 80 – 89 C 70 – 79 D 60 – 69 F 59 – 0 THE FIRST ABSENCE IS FREE. EACH ABSENCE AFTER THE FIRST WILL COUNT OFF 4 POINTS A PIECE. PLAYING ROUNDS OF GOLF OR HITTING RANGE BALLS MAY MAKE UP 1 ABSENCE. THE PRO AT THE COURSE MUST SIGN EACH CARD OR RECEIPT FOR RANGE BALLS. THE CLASS WILL CONSIST OF RANGE WORK AND ACTUAL PLAYING TIME. EVERYONE WILL BE EXPECTED TO PLAY AND HIT RANGE BALLS DURING THE CLASS. GOLF CLUBS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE CLASS. FIVE ROUNDS OF NINE HOLES WILL NEED TO BE PLAYED AND THE SCORE CARDS TURNED IN TO ME BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR FINAL.Student Learning Outcomes: 1. Student will demonstrate knowledge of, and performance of, proper grip, stance, and posture when addressing the golf ball. 2. Student will apply knowledge gained for the total use of various clubs. 3. Student will demonstrate and execute pre-shot routine, putting, chip and run shots, and various golf swings (quarter, half, and three-quarter swing) needed for the game of golf. 4. Student will demonstrate knowledge of proper etiquette, attitude, and conduct during practice and play time on a golf course. 5. Student will be able to apply the knowledge gained in class to safely play a game of golf, which includes proper use of rules, proper scoring, and total play. 6. Students will develop an interest in golf through attending and participating regularly in class. Evaluations: 1. Daily observations 2. Driving range observation 3. Venue observation 4.
