Students are expected to have a clear understanding of the topics listed: linear, quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic functions; systems of linear equations and their solutions; matrix algebra operations; mathematics of finance; algebra of sets; and concepts of probability. These form a solid foundation for subsequent courses in mathematics and other disciplines, as well as for direct application to real-life situations.Course Assignments: You will find all homework on WebAssign. Please try to use Mozilla Firefox, , since WebAssign works best with this browser. You must register for WebAssign; the class key for this course is: UTEP 3511 1726. Assessment of Course Objectives: Homework will count about 20% of your grade; attendance will count about 10% of your grade. There will be three tests (about 15% each) and a comprehensive final examination (about 25%). The test dates will be announced at least one week ahead of time. Grading Policy: Your grade for the course will be calculated using the following percentages: 45% Tests (3) 25% Final Examination (comprehensive) 10% Attendance 20% WebAssign Homework Average. Students will not be dropped by the instructor for poor performance, but may be dropped for excessive absence. Students will not be dropped by the instructor after the student drop deadline with a “W” grade. Help: Note: The MaRCS (Mathematics Resource Center for Students) in room 218 of the library provides tutorial help on a first come, first served basis.
