The “Water Cooler” discussion board This policy will help you in potentially identifying answers before I can get back to you, and it also helps keeps me from answering similar questions or concerns multiple times. If you cannot find an answer to your question, please first post your question to the “Water Cooler” discussion board. Here, your question can be answered to the benefit of all students by either your fellow students who know the answer to your question or by me. You are encouraged to answer questions from other students in the discussion forum when you know the answer in order to help provide timely assistance. If you have a question about the technology being used in the course, please contact the ASU Help Desk for assistance at http://help.asu.edu.3 Course Catalog Description Students will learn about ASU's mission as the New American University, the importance and benefits of an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving, solutions to sustainability challenges, and the importance of social embeddedness. Additionally, through various course discussions and assignments, students will examine the concept of academic integrity and its potential impact on their future, gain awareness of the value of engaging in research activities, and learn about taking an interdisciplinary perspective. Course Overview ASU 101 is a required, one-credit course designed to introduce all new first-time ASU students to the unique elements, culture, challenges, and opportunities of their university. The course covers several core topics including: • how to be successful at ASU, • the significance of academic integrity, • academic resources for the online student through ASU libraries, • the role of sustainability in your life, • and the importance of engaging globally. Learning Objectives Course Objectives At the completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Fill-in (see appendix A). Course Requirements Online Course This is a totally online course. There are no face-to-face class sessions. All assignments and course interactions will utilize internet technologies. Computer Requirements This course requires that you have access to a computer that can access the internet. You will need to have access to, and be able to use, the following software packages: • A web browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.)
