METBD 110 Hands-On 17Create a Sketch with Strong ConstraintsSketchingWhy:Learning Objectives:Performance Criteria:Resources:Plan: FIXWhy:In order to apply design intent to a sketch, the designer must understand when, where and how to apply strong constraints to a sketch. This assignment is designed to practice sketching, trim/extending, and adding strong constraints.Learning Objectives:- Apply Pro/E sketching knowledge up until this point. - Erasing a file from Pro/E’s memory.Performance Criteria:- Open a new sketch file.- Create a sketch following design intent.- Save the file.- Test design intent.- Edit a file, close it without saving it, erase the file from memory, and reopen the file with the original geometry showing.Resources:8/19/02 1 of 3METBD 110 Hands-On 17 Create a Sketch with Strong Constraints- Web pages from previous Pro/E assignments- Class notes.- Previous GSP reading assignments.- Tutors.- SI (Supplemental Instructor).- Other students.- Instructor.8/19/02 2 of3Plan: FIX1. Open a new sketch file.2. Save the file with your last name and problem figure number in the filename. I.e., Smith-5-14 (Do NOT use spaces, periods, etc.)a. Do NOT delete these files, we will be using them again.3. Sketch figure 5.14 from handout.a. Leave out the holes and slots.b. Do not worry about dimensions, just make sure the sketch looks proportional.c. Design Intent: Add as many strong constraints as you can, decreasing the number of dimensions needed. I.e., if a line is drawn horizontal, it must always stay horizontal. (Remember all constraints must be strong - yellow.)4. Repeat the above steps from figures 5.15 and 5.17, except for 5.17 include the hole.5. You instructor will have you do the “pull a line test” for each sketch – like the 2nd drag problem. If it retains itsshape, you are finished with that sketch. If not, you must go back and add the missing constraints.a. Do NOT save after this step – File - Close Window – No save.b. If you must fix the file, after you close it you must also erase it from memory before reopening it. File – Erase – Not Displayed – OK.8/19/02 3 of
