Opportunity for students to assess their interest in this area. Includes a minimum of 30 hours of field experience in elementary or secondary classroom environment. Prerequisites: None. A failing grade will be given if you do not complete 30 hours in a classroom setting.Grading Scale (630 points possible) 567-630 (90%) A 504-566 (80%) B 441-503 (70%) C 378-440 (60%) D 377 or below F Attendance Policy: Attendance is worth 50 points in this class. Attendance will be taken every day and absences will count from the very first day of class. 0-2 absences will earn the 50 points. 3-5 absences will earn 25 points. Any student who exceeds five absences will be withdrawn from the class. (2 times tardy or leaving early will equal one absence.) Excused absences are defined as “absences that occur when students are involved in an official activity of the college (field trips, tournaments, athletic events) and present an official absence excuse form. Jury duty and subpoenas are also considered excused absences. Testing Policy: Students will be expected to take all tests in class, on the day indicated on the syllabus. In case of an extreme emergency, you may contact me before the scheduled class time to arrange for a make-up test. The test may be a different version. If your absence is not an emergency and you do not contact me before class, you will be given a “0” for the test. Due Dates: The syllabus clearly states due dates and you are given ample time to complete all assignments. Each class period that the assignment is late will result in a grade lower than would have been earned had the assignment been turned in or presented on time. Disability Accommodations: Please see me if you have a documental disability that may require accommodations. I will be happy to work with the Disability Services and Resource (DSR) office to coordinate the necessary accommodations. The phone number for DSR is 623-845-3080. Explain and evaluate the major philosophies of education.8. Participate as a volunteer teacher aide for a minimum of 30 hours. 9. Describe and evaluate the experience of being a volunteer teacher aide. 10. List and explain appropriate classroom management strategies for a variety of situations. Assignment Details MIDAS Quizzes 100 points--10 points each All chapter quizzes will be taken online using the MIDAS system. The quiz can be completed any time during the week. The cutoff will be Sunday night at midnight. All quizzes are “open book” with a 30-minute time limit. There will be ten multiple choice questions for each quiz. Once you log on to MIDAS and start the quiz, you must complete it. You must know your palette account login and password to enter MIDAS. You can use MIDAS on campus or at home, if you have Internet access.
