Student resources include: lectures, class discussions and the basic textbook. Lectures will often contain material not available in the other sources. The exams, however, will include questions drawn from both class lectures and the textbook. Reading assignments will be announced in class. This is a reading intensive course. Grade: The course grade will be based on four major exams. These exams will each be worth 25% of the grade. The exams will include multiple choice, chronology, fill-in-the-blank, map location, identify, short answer and essay questions. There will be no extra credit. Exam Schedule: Exam I February 9 Exam II March 8 Exam III April 12 Final - Depending on Schedule ( No final exams given early) Additional Information: This is a college level class and students will be expected to conduct themselves as responsible adults. Disruptive behavior (talking, cell phones, sleeping, working on material for other classes, etc.) will not be tolerated. (Cell phones must be turned off when you enter class and be placed out of sight. You may not leave class to answer a cell phone. Students who violate these rules may be dropped from the class) No tobacco products of any kind will be used in class. You are encouraged to ask for help if you have questions or problems. Questions are also welcomed in class. All students are responsible for the material presented in class (reading assignments, directions and subject matter) If you miss a class it is your responsibility to make up what you missed. Any student guilty of cheating or plagiarism will receive an F in the course. Class attendance is very important, and students will be expectedto be on time. Students who enter the classroom after roll has been taken will be counted absent. The following attendance policy will be followed. 1. MWF classes – after six absences the student may be dropped. 2. TT classes - after four absences the student may be dropped. 3. MW classes - after four absences the student may be dropped. NOTE: If you decide to stop attending class it is your responsibility to drop. Students dropped for excessive absences who have a failing grade will be dropped with an F. Make - Up Exams: (only for a missed exam not retakes for a poor grade) There will be only one opportunity during the semester to make up a missed exam. The make-up day is Friday, April 20 at 1:00 in building 3 on the Reese campus. Statement of Nondiscrimination: This course complies with all nondiscrimination policies listed in the college catalog.
